The Big IDEA is rolling into Week 16!

How are you feeling? Are you enjoying what we’re doing so far?

Hopefully you’ve spent a bit of time exploring social media, primarily in Facebook, which is what our focus has been for the last three weeks. To recap, we first explored how Facebook works on the personal side, and discussed creating our account and our personal presence on Facebook. This is our Personal Profile and our interaction with people through our Personal Profile is with what Facebook calls Friends.

Our second journey into Facebook addressed the business side, where we created our Fan Page and explored how to develop it and communicate with our Fans. People become Fans when they like our page. Once they become Fans, we interact with them in a similar fashion as with our Friends – we create content in the form of posts, adding photographs, video and interesting content that connects with our Fans or Friends.

Engaging our community within Facebook was our topic last week. Creating and/or sharing information that our community finds of value creates Engagement. Engagement happens within Facebook when our Friends or Fans like, comment or share our posts with others. That simple act of engagement spreads are content throughout the Facebook community, allowing us to reach people who are connected to our Friends and Fans, but not to us directly.

Hopefully, you understand the basics of Facebook and its social nature now. Don’t hesitate to drop me an email with any question you may have about these interactions – I’m happy to help.

Keep going! This week, I’d like you to gain some more experience inside Facebook. Take the time to find or create some content that you can share in the form of posts which your community, your niche will appreciate. Share the content, and reach out to others within Facebook and see how they share content with their communities.

You can find people and Fan Pages that are in your niche by using the search bar at the top of the Facebook page. Simply type in who or what you are looking for. For example, if you’re searching for a person you will type their name. A list of people with that name will appear, and you can select the one that you are looking for. When searching for Fan Pages, you type the topic or something regarding the niche. If your niche is cruising, enter cruising or cruise line or cruise vacation. If your niche is dog training, enter dog training and search for those Pages.

While you continue to learn more about Facebook, next week I’ll cover a few other social media sites where you can get good engagement, build followers and encourage them to join your list. Remember, the money is in the list – our idea is to convert Friends, Fans, and Followers (on Twitter), etc. to our list. We want all of these people to end up at our squeeze page where we will collect their contact information, add them to our list and continue to engage and eventually advise them. The money is in the list.

As you are exploring your social identity on Facebook and other social networks, reach out to me and invite me to be your Friend, a Fan of your Page, a Twitter Follower and however else you decide you to connect with Social Media. Send me a personal message, I reply all of them.

Here is where you can connect with me:

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Kindest regards,

Greg
