Here we are at Week 8 of the Big IDEA – we’re diving into Defining our Community, again!

If you’ll remember, we started last week with the details of Defining our Community (the D in The Big IDEA) and exploring Where They Are, Where They Hang Out Online.

I’ll keep the text short this week – we need to get right down to it!

Defining our Community is about finding them so we can Engage them, so let’s get to it – let’s dive in and research where to find them in Facebook, building on last week’s Cruising example.

Let’s remember that in the Big IDEA, Identifying our Passion leads to Defining our Community, where we can Engage them and eventually Advise them. Advising our Community is the sale – we nurture our Community through that Engagement, and they eventually become Customers.

Remember - Many websites change their look, button locations, etc., very frequently, so don't be distracted that this video may look different from your current Facebook layout.  As I type this, Facebook is slightly different, but has just announced a return to a layout similar to the one shown in the video.  Gotta love change!

There you go! These Facebook Pages show how we can find where our Community hangs out, where they are already engaged. Now you understand how to Define your Community. These Communities are thriving and actively engaged on Facebook - Sharing, Commenting and Liking various posts.

Using these examples, you can apply what you’ve learned about Forum and Facebook Communities to Twitter, Google+ and any other site. Try searching for a Community that shares your Passion, that is in your Niche online – and let me know your results by posting a comment below or by contacting me!
